HORIZON SCHOOLS
Our Horizon School and Horizon High School in Livingston serve more than 150 students ages 3-21 with multiple disabilities. They are private schools licensed by the State of New Jersey and adheres to all New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards. The curriculum stresses functional learning – increasing life skills and enhancing a child’s ability to gain as much independence as possible to provide a foundation for future growth and success. Speech, physical and occupational therapies are incorporated into the classroom setting providing for an integrated educational and therapeutic curriculum.
Horizon School serves our younger students (ages 3-11) and features a sensory integration room, an on-site aquatic therapy pool, a room for students with visual impairments, as well as a 2,500 square-foot accessible play park that includes a sensory garden, greenhouse, outdoor classroom and pond.
We completed construction of our new Horizon High School in 2005. The school is a 32,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that offers an aquatic therapy pool, school store operated by students, model apartment, spacious classrooms tailored to subject areas and a Technological Literacy Center. The school’s Vocational Job Training and Life Skills Program helps prepare students to live as independently as possible in the future.
