Early Intervention

Our Building Blocks Early Intervention Program has been providing early intervention services for more than 30 years. We serve as a contractor for the State of New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services to provide early intervention services in your child’s home or other natural environment.

Our team consists of early special educators, physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, child development specialists, behavioral specialists, teachers of the deaf, child development associates, social workers, nurses, and translators. Children are eligible for Early Intervention Program service if they are under three years of age, and if they:

  • demonstrated a measured developmental delay of at least a 2.0 standard deviation below the mean in one area of development; or a 1.5 standard deviation below the mean in two or more areas of development on a standardized evaluation tool
  • have a physical or medical diagnosis that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delay( For example Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, etc.) that have been confirmed in a signed statement report from a medical professional
  • have a documented clinical opinion
  • children at risk are not eligible for services

Families must also agree to participate in the state’s family cost share. The amount of the family cost share is determined by family income.
