Volunteers from CIT Group helped Horizon School celebrate a fun filled Earth Day. Volunteers helped run several nature themed activity stations where students; planted flowers, created bird feeders, learned about recycling, listened to stories, and created their very own environment friendly shopping bags.
We would like to thank all the volunteers from CIT for helpings us create a very special Earth Day celebration!
Horizon School recently used funds raised through their Wheelin’-n’-Walkin’ Challenge to purchase a WalkAide Device. The device applies non-painful, low-level electrical currents directly to the nerves in the lower leg that control movement of the ankle and foot. The device communicates with a laptop (using Bluetooth technology) that has a program customized to each student’s walking pattern. The computer program determines the appropriate time to deliver the stimulation with every step, therefore improving the child’s gait. Vanessa recently wore it on the treadmill and there was no stopping her!
