CPNJ Teaches Elementary School Students About Kids with Disabilities

CPNJ recently worked with South Orange – Maplewood’s   Jefferson School, which serves more than 500 students grades 3-5. The school required every student to read a book called “Out of My Mind.”, which is about a young girl with CP who is unable to communicate verbally. To help students better understand the challenges faced by those with disabilities  Corry DeMarco, Volunteer Coordinator at CPNJ, presented workshops to each of 20 classes  She also presented to more than 150 parents at a separate evening meeting.
