For our last meeting of the Fall / Winter session of JUMPSTART! (Early Intervention Therapeutic Play Group) therapists focused on the children’s sensory integration needs. Children in early intervention often have difficulty aligning their body senses, specifically their vestibular system. This sensory system provides the leading contribution to the sense of balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement with balance. In this session therapists provided specific movement experiences coupled with auditory and visual input to help support all underlying functioning. Special thanks to all of our Early Intervention families for another amazing playgroup! Verona PBA Character Visit

Before the holiday break, friends from Verona PBA visited our Pillar Elementary School (formerly Horizon School) dressed as zany characters from some of our Pillar student’s favorite cartoons, movies and books. Costume-clad volunteers traveled from class to class, making sure to greet all of our students with a smile. Our volunteers also donated a bundle of new books to each and every classroom! Special thanks to Verona PBA for sharing in a wonderful afternoon with our students!
