Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) includes tools, devices and strategies that allow an individual with disabilities to perform tasks and achieve goals with greater independence. CPNJ’s AT services can include provisions for computer hardware and software, alternate access methods, educational electronic resources, mounting equipment, integration of AT tools and more. AT systems can range from fairly simple to technologically advanced.

Our AT team serves toddlers, children, and adults with developmental or acquired disabilities and is available on a contracted basis for assessment/consultation using our state-of-the-art equipment library, identification of AT system options, assistance in the acquisition of selected AT system components, team and caregiver training, therapy services, and coordination with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) services and applications.

Funding options for CPNJ’s AT services vary for each age group. Our staff is available to assist with determining funding eligibility and submitting relevant documentation.

We are also available to host and provide on and off-site family workshops and professional development events on various AT topics. Please inquire further for availability and fees.
