Many of the services available to children and adults with disabilities end in the afternoon, leaving working parents in a difficult situation. Families must not just find a caregiver, but someone trained to assist those with special needs. To assist these families, we offer several programs:
After School Programs
We offer after school programs from 3:00pm-6:00pm at our Horizon School and Horizon High School in Livingston. Students enjoy a range of educational and recreational activities and the program is open to students who do not attend one of the Horizon Schools. This is a fee-based program and families are responsible for making transportation arrangements.
Family Support Services
The Family Support Program located in Irvington provides respite support for families caring for someone with a disability. By providing enriching social and recreational activities for their loved ones Monday-Friday from 3:00pm-6:00pm, the program serves as a critical support that allows families to better cope with the stress of their busy lives. The program serves both children and adults and provides transportation home to all participants. Families that wish to enroll in the program must get a referral from their case manager with the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities.
